Caring for your lawn in April

Lawn and garden tips for caring for your lawn in April

1. Mow your lawn regularly: Keep your grass no shorter than 2cm and neat by mowing it at least once a week during the growing season.
2. Fertilise your lawn: April is the perfect time to feed your lawn with a good quality fertiliser. This will help to promote healthy growth and keep the grass looking green and lush.
3. Repair any damage: If you have any bare patches on your lawn, now is the time to fix them. You can either reseed or lay new turf to help your lawn recover.
4. Aerate your lawn: To improve drainage and give your grass roots access to more air, consider aerating your lawn. This can be done by using a garden fork or a specialist tool.
5. Weed and moss control: April is also a good time to deal with any weeds or moss on your lawn. You can either use a specialist product or manually remove them.
6. Water your lawn: If we experience a dry period in April, make sure to water your lawn thoroughly, particularly if it is newly laid turf. Don’t forget Greener Gardens has a Water Solution treatment which will maximise water availability regardless of if you decide to water or not.
7. Tidy borders and beds: Clear out any dead foliage or debris from your flower beds and borders. This will allow new growth to emerge without competition from old plants.
8. Add new plants: If you want to add some new plants to your garden, now is a good time to do it. The soil is starting to warm up and there is plenty of light for them to grow.

The team at Greener Gardens would be happy to help you “Create a lawn to love and a space to make memories!”
