A little extra help for your lawn

How to Sow Grass Seed for a Beautiful Lawn

Do you want to enjoy an all over lush green lawn? Follow these simple steps to sow grass seed and achieve a successful result.

When to sow grass seed
The best time to sow grass seed is between mid-spring and early autumn, when the soil is warm, moist, and moderate. The seed whould normally germinate in 10 to 14 days.

We recommend using our premium grass seed, which is ideal for areas with high foot traffic, kids, and pets. For shadier areas, you can over-seed with grass species that tolerate low light.

How to sow grass seed
1. Prepare the soil by removing weeds, moss, and debris. Level the area and ensure it is well-drained.
2. Closely mow the lawn
3. Spread the seed evenly over the soil, using 25 to 35 grams per square meter.
4. Rake the seed lightly into the top 12 to 25 mm of soil.
5. Firm the soil by treading or rolling it, using the roller on your mower if possible.
6. Water in thouroughly, avoiding washing away any soil or seed.

How to care for grass seed
Water the seed well, using a fine spray if needed. Keep the soil moist until the seed germinates.
If you don’t water, the seed will germinate when conditions are favorable.
Watch the seedlings grow and mow the area when the grass reaches 15 to 45 mm in height. This will help the seed establish.

Why sow grass seed
Sowing grass seed has many benefits, such as:

  • Replacing bare soil with grass cover, which helps prevents moss and weed germination.
  • Enhancing the appearance and value of your outdoor space.
  • Providing a soft and comfortable surface for your family and pets to enjoy.

Remember, a well-sown lawn will reward you with lush green and pleasant outdoor space.
