Why we have recommended
On our visit today we have made a recommendation for Let the Lawn Breathe, i.e. aeration of your lawn.
This is normally based on one or more reasons which could include:
- The lawn contains moss
- There are bare patches
- Excessive water or standing water pools
- Soil type and lawn age
- Despite feeding the grass just isn’t as green as it could be
- Despite
- Despite feeding, the grass just isn’t as green as it could be or is starting to decline
These are all signs of possible compaction.
A lawn needs annual aeration in order to stay in the best shape.
How Lawn Aeration benefits your lawn
It’s a little-known fact that grass roots need air! When your soil has air running through it, the roots can breathe better and the soft soil gives them the room to develop naturally.
If your soil is air deficient, dry/bare patches of earth plus pools of standing surface water may appear. When soil is compacted or impervious, the grass will often start to decline.
Aeration is all about breaking up compacted soil so that your grass has a fresh chance to flourish and grow. When we aerate a lawn, we use a machine to drive spikes through the surface of the grass creating holes in the soil beneath, this allows air, water and fertiliser to better penetrate and feed your lawn’s hungry root system enabling it to thrive.
Let your Lawn Breathe
By improving the health of your soil and lawn, you will enjoy the following benefits:
- Improved surface drainage and a drier surface
- Moss reduction
- Less risk of disease
- Increased root development – especially important for heavier clay soils
Reduces the impact leading to damaged areas created by
- Foot traffic
- Waterlogging
- Pest damage
Timing: Spring, Early Summer, Summer and Autumn
