Lawn Refresh (Scarification)

Why we have recommended

On our visit today we have made a note recommending Lawn Refresh i.e.  scarification, over-seeding and soil improver for your lawn.

This is normally based on one or more reasons which could include:

  • Spongy to foot
  • Moss
  • Lawn pests and disease
  • The grass species which make up your lawn need attention
  • Thatch levels are such that left unaddressed will lead to other lawn issues

A lawn needs regular thatch management in order to stay in shape and to make it easier to mow. Often, a lawn that appears in good condition is suffering from thatch; if you notice that your lawn is drying out quickly and yellowing, this could be an indication of this.

Our specialist scarification machines remove thatch; over-seeding improves colour and texture and soil improver aids germination.

Timing: Spring and Autumn

Benefits:

  • Easier mowing
  • Over-seeding will maintain consistency of colour and texture
  • Less moss
  • Less favourable conditions for lawn grub activity

Regular scarification increases the control of

  • Moss growth
  • Annual weeds
  • Creeping grasses
  • Lawn environment favoured by Red Thread & lawn pests
