It’s the start of a new gardening year, following the wet autumn and mild winter, moss is thriving on many untreated lawns and if environmental conditions are favorable treated ones.
What causes the moss?
Low light levels, cool temperatures and rainfall over the autumn and winter period create the perfect conditions for moss to prosper, it’s not just limited to lawns, it can be hard surfaces as well.
Where the grass is struggling due to environmental conditions such excessive shade or waterlogged soils, moss will take hold of a lawn and begin to dominate even more easily. So now is great time to apply a spring feed and moss control, this will help knock back the moss plus the feed will supply essential nutrients to aiding recovery for pale and weak grass plants.
