There is never a bad time to start creating a beautiful lawn. You can adopt the service at any time. Homeowners are constantly amazed to see what they thought was a lawn beyond saving transformed into a beautiful lawn.
Yes it is. We do ask that you keep off the lawn until the products applied have dried (usually less than 2 hours). We recommend that grazing pets such as rabbits and guinea pigs be kept off the lawn for the next 2-3 cuts to avoid ingestion of applied treatments.
No. By using herbicide controls, in the right conditions, with proper precautions, or using shields, where necessary, ornamental plants and trees will not be affected.
Moss lives and survives on lawns that retain moisture and on lawns that are compacted or have a poor coverage of grass. We normally recommend that you consider a double attack based around a programme of moss killer and aeration. The first destroys the existing moss growth, the second reduces compaction that makes it less likely to return. As compaction occurs by the lawn being used and by movement of the sub-soil, your lawn will require aerating, if it is to have the full benefit of the management programmes throughout the year.
The Emerald Lawn package combines, lawn health, soil enrichment and annual aeration, a perfect solution.
Because of the nature of moss its best to treat it with a combination of control and cultural treatments. Dont forget, simple changes like introducing more light by pruning can have a beneficial impact. If you have a moss problem, it is dealt with, or advised on immediately.
You should see a result in approximately 7 days with the correct weather conditions.

The best time to water is early morning before the temperature rises to high, avoid mid day watering as too much water evaporates and does not benefit the plant, evening watering is advisable but can sometimes encourage disease.
All plants require water, when insufficient soil moisture is available your lawn through the soil and root system your lawn may go into dormancy, this is perfectly normal. To avoid this you will need to provide the moisture. If you decide to do this we recommend that weekly drench to a suitable depth is better than frequent lights sprinklings. We would be happy to advise good watering practice and helpful tips as required.
Yes, we are fully complient with current legislation which includes.
All of our operators hold National Proficiency Training Council (NPTC) PA1 and PA6 licences.
We are Official Controls (Plant Protection Products) Regulations (OCR) 2020 registered. This is a legal requirment.
This register also covers gardeners who are using amateur products in a professional capacity, so if you have a gardener who charges customers for putting down a weed and feed product, then they have to register as well.
Through membership of the UKLCA and Amenity Forum Lawn Care group we are actively following the progress of the National Action Plan (Sustainable use of pesticides). “The plan covers the next five years and aims to minimise the risks and impacts of pesticides to human health and the environment, while ensuring pests and pesticide resistance are managed effectively.”
Following a weed control treatment, the weeds should start to grow rapidly, then curl and die after 2-3 days, but it may take up to 10 days dependent on the weed type. Unusually hot weather, heavy rain within 24 hours of treatment, or mowing immediately after treatment can reduce control.
Normally within 48 hours, unless otherwise advised, but if we have applied herbicides, the longer they are left on the leaf, the better. This helps the weedkillers to be more effective.
Our granular fertilisers are not considered hazardous products. While no herbicide material may be legally classified as completely 'safe', our weed control can be termed 'practically non-toxic'. These products are all certified for use on lawns, used by our NPTC qualified staff in strict compliance with labelled instructions. They do not represent any significant threat to your family or pets.
Not just greener in name ...
- 79 % of our treatments are either 100% natural, or manually labour intensive.
- All of our treatments are safe for children and pets once dry.
- We use professional products chosen not just for product performance, but also for those that are as environmentally friendly as possible
Thatch is another name for debris made up of a fibrous material, leaves and other organic substances. It builds up naturally when mowing and by natural use of your lawn. Its presence retards growth of your grass by reducing the light and oxygen that healthy grass requires. As it traps moisture on the surface of the grass it will also attract moss!
A scarifying and overseeding programme (we call this Lawn Refresh) is needed to remove the existing thatch by hand or mechanical raking. Its recurrence is discouraged by aeration, which can be either by solid or hollow-tine spiking. This in effect gives the roots of the grass air and allows water and fertilisers a direct route to where they can best encourage growth.
