Your Winter Guide

Tips to keep your lawn looking good this winter...

What can I be doing?

Here are three simple steps you can take to keep your lawn in tip top condition:

1. Fallen leaves and uncut grass will soon spoil the visual appearance of your lawn, they can also lead to issues like "die back" from leaf cover and an uncut lawn over winter will make it really hard work to cut next spring.

2. Winter Cutting for more information read our article the benefits of winter mowing it's one of the most visually damaging diseases because recovery can be slow leaving scaring visible for long periods of the winter period.

Winter Cutting Guide

Suggested cutting frequency - Every 14-21 days;
Recommended cutting height:
Family lawns suggested cut height is: 3-4cm
Luxury lawns suggested cut height is: 2-3cm

3. The need to re nourish

Maintaining a healthy and vibrant lawn or turf requires more than just regular mowing and watering. Soil leaching, a natural process in which essential nutrients are washed away by water, can lead to nutrient deficiencies and affect the overall health of your turf.

Don’t let moss be the boss!

We are predicting lots of moss over the winter months, contributors to moss are:

  • Compaction, this can be assisted by Aeration and our Soil Improver
  • Thatch, this can be addressed with Scarification
  • Cleaner air. Whilst clean air contributes to better human health and wellbeing, it also encourages moss growth.

Treating for moss and conditioning the grass plant will be our main focus on your winter visit. The treatment will help by dehydrating the moss, turning it brown and effectively shrinking it away from the grass and allowing the grass underneath to breath, grow and spread out. Raking out this treated moss helps breaks the life cycle and further reduces the plants ability to prosper.
